Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) | LMIA
IRCC brings foreign workers in Canada under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), in order to provide economic opportunities for Canadian citizens and address labor market shortages. In order to become a part of the TFWP, applicants must:
- Present an evidence of a job offer or a contract from a Canadian employer. This document will serve as a confirmation that the employee has a job waiting in Canada.
- The employer is required to apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
- ESDC will make a decision whether the employer is able to hire a worker from a foreign country for a specific job role.
